Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Noteora ("we", "us", "our") develops the Noteora mobile application (the "App") and operates this website (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App and the Site do — and do not — collect, and how that information is handled.

2. Data stored by the App

Noteora is designed to work fully offline. All content you create — note text, handwriting strokes, folders, tags, images you insert, reminders, and PIN locks — is stored exclusively in a local database on your own device. This data is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted to us or to any third party. We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or has access to your notes.

Because your notes never leave your device, we have no ability to view, recover, or delete them on your behalf. If you delete the App or your device, that data is gone unless you have exported or backed it up yourself (for example, via a PDF or text file you saved elsewhere).

3. PIN protection

You can lock individual notes or folders with a PIN. The PIN is stored on your device in a salted, hashed form — not as readable text — and is used only to unlock content locally within the App. We never receive your PIN and cannot reset or recover it for you; an optional hint you create yourself is the only recovery option.

4. No accounts, no cloud sync

The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address, name, or any other personal identifier to use it. There is no cloud sync feature, so no note content is ever associated with an identity we hold.

5. Device permissions

The App requests the minimum it needs to work as a notebook, and only for the feature you are actively using:

• Photo library access — to let you insert an existing image into a note. On Android this is the equivalent permission to read images from your gallery.

That is the complete list, on both platforms. The App does not request camera, location, contacts, calendar, or microphone access, and it never presents an App Tracking Transparency prompt or reads your advertising identifier. It also ships without any networking code, so it has no network access to give away in the first place.

Images you insert are stored locally alongside your note and are handled the same way as all other note content described in Section 2.

6. Analytics, advertising, and tracking in the App

The App does not include analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or any third-party tracking libraries. Nothing you write, draw, or organize in the App is measured, transmitted, or profiled. We do not build advertising profiles from App usage, and we do not sell or share App data, because we do not collect any in the first place. Analytics on our website (Section 7) is a separate matter and has no access to anything inside the App.

7. This website, analytics, and cookies

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) to understand how many people visit these pages and which pages they find useful, so we can improve them. It runs in Google's Consent Mode v2, which means every storage permission starts switched off. On your first visit we ask with a banner at the bottom of the page. Until you choose "Accept", nothing is stored in your browser: no analytics cookies are written and no identifier is kept, so you are not recognisable between visits or across pages. In that state Google receives only an anonymous, cookieless signal that a page was viewed, which it uses to estimate aggregate traffic. Advertising features and advertising data are switched off and redacted in both states. If you choose "Accept", Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes a limited set of technical information: a randomly generated visitor identifier, the pages you view, referring links, approximate location derived from your IP address (which Google truncates and does not store), your device type, browser, and operating system.

We use this data only in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you personally, we have not enabled Google Signals or advertising features, and we do not use it for ad targeting or remarketing. Google processes this data as described in its own Privacy Policy. This analytics applies to this website only — it is not present in the App and has no access to your notes.

Changing your mind. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage on this device — not in a cookie, and it is never transmitted anywhere. You can change it at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Choosing "Decline" switches analytics storage back off and clears any analytics cookies that were previously set. You can also block analytics cookies through your browser settings, use a content blocker, or install Google's official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The Site works exactly the same either way.

Separately from analytics, the Site stores your light/dark theme preference and your analytics choice using your browser's local storage. That value stays on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and is used for no purpose other than remembering your display preference on your next visit.

8. App Store data collection

Downloading the App from the App Store involves standard, platform-level information collected by Apple to operate the App Store itself (such as download counts and crash diagnostics, if you opt in to share them with developers). That collection is governed by Apple's own privacy practices, not by us, and is disclosed separately on the App's App Store product page.

9. Children's privacy

Because the App collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App is not directed at soliciting personal data from users of any age.

10. Changes to this policy

If this Privacy Policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Since the App itself collects no data, changes here are expected to be rare and limited to clarifying language.
